Candle of Hope

Millionaire Giving Away Money?!

So here's the story: This all began on my blog as a way to help millionaires looking to give away money and allow them a way to find real people to help. In late 2006, I decided to delete the blog post due to concern for those most vulnerable being taken advantage of. Nevertheless, I could not let this project go. It has now evolved to what I see as a way for us to all pretend to be millionaires. The concept is for those who need help (in a financial way or not) to post their stories and needs, and those that choose to help (aka be a millionaire-without actually being one) can actually get involved. The goal now is not to literally give away money (but you could if you choose) but to use the power of the internet to create hope for those in need.

How did this all start? I was sitting depressed, and wondering if some one out there had some money to spare. Maybe some weird Millionaire with too much money, willing to share it with poor ol' me. I figured you always hear these stories about people with too much money and having no idea what to do with it. As I searched, I was depressed to find most of these pages were scams. Then I thought to myself, what would happen if I were a millionaire and bored? I'd probably surf the web and might even happen across an interesting blog. On that blog, what would happen if there were stories about real people who needed help, or rather just a bit of hope in the form of couple of dollars. They were not chasing after the millionaire, he or she was at the leisure to decide to help. I started a blog post with that premise on my blog August 31st 2005, welcoming others to add their stories. I never thought anyone would ever leave a comment. To date (November 2007), I have 4574 people who have generously shared their stories, with a long shot of hope that someone out there can help. This is why this web page exists. The only way to help people is to get the word out. Put people who need help at the fingertips of people with money. Let the millionaires decide who to help, rather than have them pursued into helping. At the end of the day if nothing ever comes of this, that's okay. Maybe I gave someone hope for a brief moment and a chance to unburden their soul. Below is the post that started this.May God bless everyone.

Thanks for your generosity and support!

Millionaire Giving Away Money?!

Free money, is what I wish I could give away. I am not some rich author. Yet, I was thinking how cool would it be if a millionaire or billionaire were giving away money through a website. I am sure that lots of people could use a couple of hundred bucks. I know I could. I know no millionaire would be crazy enough to make such a website, but I figure this is the closest way I can help some needy people get some money. I have a small solution: In case some rich guy or gal is reading this, leave a comment below with your wishes and if he or she (our friend the millionaire) is reading this and willing to part with some money they'll know where to find you. (I suggest you not use your main e-mail address) Good luck to all. And to those with the money, thank you giving hope. May God bless you.
